I have always said that Denver is the perfect city because of its appropriate balance between urban and rural neighborhoods and their associated activities. Denver has the mountains, great hiking trails, and numerous large parks. But, Denver also has LoDo. Downtown Denver seems very small to me after growing up in Chicago, IL. However, this city has everything you need: great restaurants, shopping, theatre, art and culture.

After moving to Denver in 2012 I recall going to Sushi Sasa without a reservation with my mom. The restaurant told us it would be a two-hour wait so we decided to try a great tapas place down the road and left the sushi for another night. On my Life Walk through LoDo we walked past both Sushi Sasa and the great tapas place and the memories of my first night in Denver all came flooding back. It amazes me to look back and reflect on the last two years that I have lived in this great city. Two years ago this entire city was foreign to me, but now I feel like a native knowing where the cool restaurants are and the best places to visit if you’re here on a short stay.

On my Life Walk through LoDo I saw a different side of the city; I saw the alleyways. With the entire city at our feet we chose to explore the alleyways and spent the most time photographing the beautiful lighting and sharp edges of the urban buildings and construction. I will always look at alleyways in a new light after this Life Walk and hope to discover the great light again soon.
